Painted Finish

Fine Paints of Europe Hollandlac Brilliant is a high performance, marine quality enamel, unequalled in its ability to provide maximum protection and depth of color. Cutting Edge Cabinetry & Woodworking uses this densely pigmented formulation to provide superior coverage and hiding power. High concentrations of costly, color-fast pigments result in colors that resist fading. Hollandlac Brilliant’s unique self-leveling and filling properties result in a finish that dries to a beautiful, durable, porcelain-like surface. Cutting Edge Cabinetry & Woodworking also uses Fine Paints of Europe Oil Primer/Undercoat, a high performance primer, to ensure maximum adhesion and longevity of the finish coat. A good undercoat prevents penetration of moisture and ensures uniform opacity of finish coats. We administer multiple coats of both the Oil Primer & Hollandlac Brilliant to provide the best possible protection against the elements. Thousands of colors are available to meet anyone’s needs.

Translucent Stained Finish

Protecting the Window & Door timber for years to come requires special treatment. Cutting Edge Cabinetry & Woodworking uses optimized systems for the proper treatment of each wood type, which require their own system for the most durable finish and long-term protection. Our high standards are met with the superior products we use, along with the proper knowledge and techniques. Listed below some of the steps we take to achieve a long-lasting, exterior coating.

  1. Colored Impregnating Agent
  • Increases protection from blue stain discolorations and wood rotting.
  • Anchors wood’s cell structure to the coating.
  1. Transparent Base Coat
  • Pore filling increases weather resistance.
  • Protects from timber extractive bleeding.
  1. Nanotech Top Coat
  • Elasticity allows movement with temperature changes.
  • High UV protection from long-lasting light stabilizers with excellent transparency.
  • Permeable film properties provide excellent moisture resistance.

The next phase of the finish system is to properly maintain the coating. This is a simple step that should not be overlooked. We recommend using a special cleaner and protectant annually that will revitalize the finish. These are simple wipe on products that will prolong the finish and increase the service life of the coating. It is also a good time to inspect the coating for any blemishes, dings, scratches, etc. so they can be addressed before they cause any further damage to the timber. Eventually a brushable maintenance coating will need to be applied on the exterior in 15-20 years depending on the location, sun, and weather exposure. Please give us a call, or email, to learn more about our finishing systems and how to properly maintain them for decades of service.

Cutting Edge Cabinetry & Woodworking offers many standard Translucent Stained colors. Please view our color swatches to find one that fits your style. Custom colors can be created if desired.

Opaque Colored Finish

Our Opaque Colored Finish system is similar to the Translucent Stained Finish mentioned above. The main difference is the coloring of the Window & Door timber to a solid tone similar to paint. We feel this is a better system than a painted finish, as it can be maintained over the years to extend its life. Another benefit is the flexibility of the finish, which allows it to move with the wood keeping the bond intact with the surface. If a painted finish is desirable, we do offer that and more information is available below. Cutting Edge Cabinetry & Woodworking offers hundreds of color choices for our Opaque Colored Finish. We will list below some of the steps we take to achieve a durable finish that will last years to come.

  1. Colored Impregnating Agent
  • Isolates from color-discoloring timber components.
  • Pore filling for a smoother, more durable finish.
  • Anchors wood’s cell structure to the coating.
  1. Pigmented Base Coat
  • Pore filling increases weather resistance.
  • Protects from timber extractive bleeding.
  1. Pigmented Top Coat
  • Elasticity allows movement with temperature changes.
  • Permeable film properties provide excellent moisture resistance.
  • High UV protection from long-lasting light stabilizers.
